RE: Roots of your RV addiction??

My Dad directed and announced Appaloosa horse shows and rodeos during the '50s. I was born/raised at 3200ft. elevation in the hills above Chico, CA., and every Spring/Summer we'd close up the "stump ranch" and hit the road heading in whatever direction the work took us. I've never lost the love of the open road. Enjoy the journey....:B

RE: WHEW...!!!!! Close Call..!!

I think I'd have had that tasty BBQ burger before I started the dumping process. Yeah "dog"....that thought definitely crossed my mind, (after my heartrate began to 'normalize'....)...:E

WHEW...!!!!! Close Call..!!

So...there I was...dumping my tanks for the millionth time during my RV career. As always, I dump the Black first, and then rinse it thoroughly, (my coach came with a 9-point internal rinse system that really does a great job). Then, while dumping the Grey, I'll let the rinse system run for a coupla' minutes to add several gallons back into the Black Tank for the first #2 Potty, (ahem). Yesterday, I was doing what I always do when I got interrupted by a new neighbor who was having trouble backing his 5er. in and asked if I'd spot for him. "SURE" I said, and closed the Grey valve and the Main valve as it was all empty. Helped the guy back in....went inside to have a freshly BBQ'd burger...put it together, got a soda, and sat down to eat. Just then, I heard a "vibrating sound" accompanied by the sound of pressure building...!!! "SOB" I screamed...(my Boxer dog immediately went under the bed where I thought it was impossible for him to fit)..."I left the @#!!&%@#. rinse system running", (rememebr...9 point system...lotta' water)...Thank God I have 75 Gal Tanks! I didn't know that I could levitate from my chair to the dump valves in 3 seconds, but I did...grabbed the main valve open and let 'Niagra Falls' release. SOB!!! What a rush...!! My Black Tank is clean now folks...!!! And nothing landed on the roof...!!!:B Sorry for the length...I just wanted to share the potential hazards of becoming complacent while performing an often-repeated/'automatic' task. Enjoy the journey.....:B

RE: Help, Advice Requested with Traveling Issue

:E I'm sorry for your extensive troubles folks, but my God...!!! Two engines...? Three tows...? When does a person get the idea that he's simply being sc****d, (spelled with an 'F')...? Take that crooked SOB to task for the FIRST "guaranteed" motor...! (How much do you folks have in writing sir...)? Also....get the RV park fees included in whatever case you throw up against this outfit...show no mercy...!! (This s**t gets my blood boiling)!!!:M Sorry to 'appear' dis-interested in your plight...I'm not in the least. I hope you can put this shady MFer out of business. Best of good fortune to you and yours from here on out.

RE: portable heaters

Love this unit....! Pricey...? Maybe to some...but it sure does the job with my 5er., and it's whisper quiet. I bought mine at my local ACE Hrdwre. for $79.99. www.vornado.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ISC_Category=AVH2+Heater My $.02 only...enjoy the journey....:B

RE: Pex Tubing

I was a service tech for Pepsi-Cola for a number of years, and have NO idea how many thousands of pieces of tubing I cut during fountain installations, repairs, etc. This type of "cable" cutter makes a perfectly smooth and clean/straight easy cut through PEX tubing. If you plan on doing ANY PEX work at all, you'll definitely be glad you have 'em., and they'll last forever. My $.02 only www.acehardwaresuperstore.com/klein-cable-cutter-9-p-14276.html?ref=42 Enjoy the journey....:B

Shangri La RV Park - Arizona

Have heard varied comments re: this "resort", and while the on-line site looks decent, I'd like to know if any of you fine folks could offer up any "hands-on" experience. This 'ol country boy is looking for a slightly warmer winter than here in Northern Calif. Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated as always. Thanks much and enjoy the journey....

RE: Surge protection

How many of you actually have surge protection for your 5er. I think it's time for me after replacing two converters. It only took me one Converter to realize that I needed to listen to what others had to say...! I use the 'SurgeGuard' that CW offers, (you may be able to find one a little cheaper with a 'GOOGLE' search). My 5er. has built-in surge protection....but I'd rather do the "Pay Me Now" scenario than the "Pay Me Later" deal. Better safe than sorry IMHO. www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/portable-surge-guard/2279 Enjoy the journey....:B

RE: Removing 50 amp for 30 amp

Here's one simple way that I'll use sometimes... www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/marinco-park-power-50-amp-adapter-12-cord/12854 There are several 50amp to 30amp adaptors/cords on the market. A Forum search here may well give you your answer also. Enjoy the journey....

Here's a Forum Search for 'KEYSTONE COUGAR'. You should find a great number of "opinions/experiences" here, (I didn't take the time to read any...just posted the link. RE: You know when you have been gone from home too long when...

1). When your home shower feels like Niagra Falls, and you realize that leaving the water running is probably OK.... (just experienced this last night after a 6 week road trip). 2). You realize that the neighbors' dog still barks at nothing! Enjoy the journey....:B
